Create a job and log repair steps

Every repair in Bench is a job, and every job is broken into steps.

Create a job

1. Open Jobs and choose New job.
2. Enter a Job title.
3. Choose the Customer and the Stage.
4. Choose who to Assign to.
5. Set the Job type (for AI notes). This decides what style of AI note the job gets. It defaults to your profile setting, so change it for a one-off job such as a gardener's occasional mower repair.
6. Save.

Work through the stages

Move a job between stages from the Kanban board, or change Stage in the job. Stages are the ones set up in your CRM pipeline. See Pipelines and stages: set up how your jobs flow.

The job card

Open a job to see its Job card:
- the customer, stage and assignee, which you can Edit job
- the job's checklist, if it has default tasks from CRM
- the repair steps

Add steps

1. Choose Add step to create the next numbered step.
2. Use the tabs to move between steps, or the arrows to go to the next or previous one.
3. Write what you did in Notes, and add photos as you go.

Deleting a step asks for confirmation and can't be undone.

General notes

Use Add a general note for things that belong to the whole job rather than one step.
