Assemblies and bills of materials
Define what an assembly is made from, check you can build it, and build it in one step.
An assembly is a finished product made from other stock items. Its bill of materials (BOM) lists the components and how many of each one needs. Assemblies need a paid plan.
Define an assembly
- Create the item and tick Assembly / Kit, or find it on the Assemblies page.
- Open its Bill of Materials.
- Choose each Component and the quantity per assembly.
- Save.
The Assemblies page lists your products and shows which have a BOM.
Check you can build
The dashboard shows Can Make for each assembly - how many you could build from the stock you hold - and lists anything you Can't Build because a component is short.
Build an assembly
- Choose Build Assembly.
- Enter the Quantity to build.
- Choose the Output location for the finished items.
- Review the component check and confirm.
Component stock goes down and finished stock goes up. The build is recorded in Transactions as Assembled.
Tips
- Each component must be an ordinary stock item first.
- If a component is out of stock the dialog shows it, so you know what to order.
